VOIP Consolidation Continues
VOIP Loop's Eric Krapf reports on the acquisition of Sphere by NEC. This comes at the same time that InterTel shareholders voted to approve a merger with Mitel.
This has certainly been an eventful year for VOIP with a number of mergers and acquisitions of major players (not to mention ShoreTel's recent IPO). I think it's pretty obvious now that VOIP and UC are moving into the mainstream, and with that comes a consolidation among vendors looking for an edge against each other, as well as how to position themselves as Microsoft increasingly focuses on this market.
