Lotus Sametime 7.5 Interoperates with AIM, Google Talk

IBM announced today that Lotus Sametime 7.5 Interoperates with AIM, Google Talk.  A couple of observations:

• They announced Yahoo integration was coming soon, but they are not supporting interoperability with MSN.  According to the article I cited above, IBM's argument is that interoperability with MSN would require non-standard protocols, instead they'll rely on third parties (such as AOL) to offer such integration.  (Covergence offers a gateway today). 
• Support for interoperability with GoogleTalk and any other XMPP-based IM system, making IBM the first major enterprise IM vendor to offer support for XMPP connectivity, this is good news for the XMPP crowd

So while we move closer to a goal of interconnected IM, we're still not there yet, but we're on the right track.
