VoIP perils...

Traditional long distance charges are getting cheaper, how do you build a case for VoIP deployment ? Transport of Voice over unreliable (best effort ) protocol such as IP needs strict priority for voice over WAN link which degrade the performance of the other applications.
We need to pay for the trained staff to manage the VoIP infrastructure versus the service provider (MCI ,AT&T etc) will provide the voice service with no additional cost.
VoIP is suitable only if you have excess bandwidth at your disposal and rock solid network infrastructure.
Users are mostly dont care for the newer feature VoIP provides. If they lift the handset and could able to dial out , they should be OK. But if the network is down which brings down the VoIP too which will totally cut off their business needs.
