I missed this keynote due to meetings, but our research participants consistently tell us they aren't ready to trust PC-based telephony, they lack the management tools, and faith in the PC OS as the platform for business-grade telephony. Obviously there are some companies moving ahead with this approach, but Microsoft needs to overcome concerns about the PC as a telephony platform to win widespread market adoption.
At last week's SecureWorld Boston conference, keynote speaker Charles Cresson Wood strongly warned IT managers to focus on security and compliance issues or risk outright failure of their organizations, arguing that failure to maintain adequate information protection controls could lead to public, high-profile incidents that threaten company operations.
